The heat of struggle animates life

My childhood was spent in a quaint town in Rajasthan, my work centres on the beauty, the paradoxes, the challenges and the charm of an everyday life. In my maiden exhibition, held earlier this year I ruminated on these very aspects through a series of black and white portraits of people who reverberate through my being.

Having grown on folk tales and village poems that my mother used to sing to me, my outlook towards life and hence by extension my practice is rooted in seeking the promise of beauty in the small details that inhabit our lives, but most of us fail to feel their pulse, their whispers, their echoes. My practice is a celebration of this oeuvre.
