The purpose of this piece was to create a poster for a real event made entirely in vector shapes. I decided on Lightwaves, an event thrown by The Wave in Norfolk because I knew it would have lots of lights and fun subject matter to work with. I wanted to keep the text to a bare minimum and only include what information was completely necessary. I also made certain words of interest bigger, and left detailed information a bit smaller so if a person is interested in the information they can find it but it isn’t in your face as much. I used myself as photo reference and added in shapes for the plastic looking hair piece to make it interesting. I also wanted the vectors to have multiple layers for shadows and highlights to make it feel pop art inspired. Overall I wanted the poster to be attention grabbing and very pleasing to the eye.
