The natural communities of the Upper Midwest are an endless inspiration - from the sweeping prairies to an individual flower. Learning about the ecology of entire ecosystems and identifying native species has revealed the beauty, order and complexity of nature to me. By painting the prairie I see its color and detail in a deeper way.
