Night In The Museum by Ryan Gander

‘When I look at sculptures of the human figure I am frequently left thinking of all the things that they’ve seen. This is the world of the silent onlooker.’ Ryan Gander

Night in the museum, an exhibition created by Ryan Gander.
Gander positioned sculptures facing different of walled art. Each piece of art that the sculptures are facing have the colour blue within them, a colour that is apparently important to Ganders work because to him it represents abstract ideas found within contemporary art.
Night in the Museum represents the work of over thirty artists including Angela Bulloch, Patrick Caulfield, Don Brown, Jacob Epstein, Liam Gillick, Roger Hiorns, David Hockney, Henry Moore, Ben Nicholson, Kerry Stewart, and Rebecca Warren.  Also on public display for the first time is Ryan Gander’s new commission for the Arts Council Collection, As old as time itself, slept alone 2016.
The exhibition was very interesting, placing the sculptures facing the walled pieces of art is an innovative idea and does indeed leave you thinking about what they have seen.
To me the work used in this exhibition was more appealing compared to the generic art displayed in the rest of the museum, the use of colour pulled me in due to the fact I my self love using colour in my work. Furthermore the use of abstract shape and non conventional materials also really interested me and kept me wanting more.
