Venish

Venish is a video project that captures the soundscape of Venice, filmed from a raised access
point that overlooks the city. The result is a non-conventional shooting environment, which gives
the viewer the illusion of being immersed in the city. The video was filmed from the bell tower
of the church of San Giorgio Maggiore, which provides sweeping views across San Marco.

Through the use of a wide-angle lens, it was possible to increase the visual range. Two fixed tripods
were set up in separate rooms in the bell tower. The filming took place from sunrise until sunset
in order to capture the various gradients of illumination present.

A time lapse technique was used for post-production. The soundtrack is exclusively
made up of sounds indigenous to the city: car horns, rustling water, vessel traffic, radar and more.
These sounds have been remixed and rearranged, creating a composition with a well-defined rhythm.
