Some time ago I visited Lugano in the Canton of Ticino - the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. The city of 63,000 inhabitants is surrounded by three mountains (Monte Brè, Monte San Salvatore and Sighignola) over 900m high and attracts numerous visitors, not least because of the Mediterranean climate all year round.
