ISTD 2016
Typography & Publication Design
The chosen ISTD brief was thus to celebrate the Nobel prize. Conceptualize and create a prestigious publication dedicated to the celebration to a selection of the Nobel Prize categories, or a selected Nobel Laureate.
Paul Dirac was a brilliant man, with a brilliant mind. He was very shy and never said much. He was known to many people as the quite man, that always figured out problem in nature. He was one of 2 people who invented quantum mechanics. Nobody, except Manci (his wife), and his closest friends really knew Dirac. He was hidden to the world. He was truly a multi-dimensional man, who loved Mickey Mouse and art. He saw beauty on math and nature. The concept of this publication is to tell Dirac’s live story in a true conventional manner, but the reader will be interrupted by his hidden character traits, thus will the reader learn more about Paul Dirac in an unconventional manner.
This book is executed in a manner that is connected to Dirac's life word. He loved all types of equations, and learning new thing. This publications format is thus a self bound hard cover book that has the look and feel of a old-styled handbook. The lay- out of the publication is based on the layout of a mathematical thesis. Two columns are used throughout the publication, but in the chapter dividers an unconventional layout is used. The hidden chapters are used to tell Dirac’s real story, to show the hidden part of Dirac people never knew.
