Weeks Act Legacy Trail

The Weeks Act in 1901 helped created the White Mountains Forests. Near the end of September 2016 I traveled the Weeks Act Legacy Trail(weeksactlegacytrail.org.) I began at the Saco Ranger Station in Conway and drove the Kancamagus Highway to Lincoln.
I stopped at various places along the highway to see the sites. I rediscovered something I've known for years, cloud cover can actually enhance a mountain's presence.
The sign on the bridge says "White Mountain National Forest-Bridge constructed by Town of Albany-1858-Renovated 1970"
It had been a dry year, so this river was well below it potential. Try to imagine those bolder covered with rushing water.
C.L. Graham Wangan Grounds is the high point of the Kancamagus Highway and an amazing outlook.
A view from the Days Inn in Lincoln, NH where I spent my first night. From there I traveled north to Twin Mountain for my second night.
The View from Cannon Mountain. The gray line is Route 3. The red dot is a fellow visitor of the Mountain.
I took this picture at the Flume Gorge because of the two men working on the bridge.
In my early teens, my father would bring my brother and me to Zealand Falls Hut. I would have liked to hike up there, but is too close to nightfall when I arrived at the picnic area and trailhead.
The Twin Mountain Gazebo near the Joe Dodge Lodge where I spent my second night in the White Mountains.
The Fabyan Guard Station was built in 1923 to accommodate the ranger living and working in the area
Mount Washington. The Observatory is clearly visible, along with smoke from a coal fired engine pushing people up the Cog Railway.
Where the famous Appalachia Trail crosses Route 302
