The following project was an exercise in model building as a method of exploration. I was tasked with designing a roof structure which could potentially span a distance of 20 metres. I designed an arch supported by a secondary system of cantilevering arms held in place by tension cables. The latter system forms the frame for a tensile material which offers shade around the perimeter. A steel and glazing paneling below the primary arch shelters the majority of the covered area.
