Luxury Watches With Wood Marquetry Dial

Born in the heart of the Jura mountains, between France and Switzerland, KOPPO is a sustainable fashion brand that aims to manufacture high quality products with a timeless design, that both respects the planet and traditional craftsmanship.

KOPPO’s timepieces are brought to life by craftsmen, who are passionate about preserving a heritage of rare expertise. We partnered with the best artisans in France and Switzerland in order to produce timepieces that will last a life time.

Each of our dials is unique and involves numerous steps since they are made out of an unconventional material in the world of watchmaking : wood and with a very old technique : marquetry.
Over the centuries, marquetry has been principally used for the decoration of large wooden furniture. Though this has long included clock dials, its use in a miniaturized form for wristwatches is fairly new.
Marquetry is a technique that requires intense planning and precision. Based on a drawing, our artisan first created a simplified line drawing that would allow him to outline each piece of the puzzle and then saw the veneer in stacked layers. He then reassembled the tiny pieces on the dial before polishing it to achieve the final finish.

All our watches are assembled with a Swiss movement (Ronda) by a French watchmaker based in the small town of Morteau, that has a long track record of creating reliable and precise timepieces.

We use vegetable tanning, a traditional method refined during the Renaissance for the leather of our straps. As it is more time-consuming to produce and heavily relies on experienced craftsmen to create the vegetable-tanned leather, only 10% of leather world production is made using this natural process.
