Magazine design and redesigns
While freelancing I've been working on a several conceptual designs for magazines. The first one was a cover design for the well known magazine and brand “Choice”. This also involved developing an advertising style for their new digital arm “Choice Plus”.
GTR magazine has undergone the most dramatic of all redesign changes. First in name from the rather lengthy “Government Technology Review” to the more succinct “GTR”. This in turn generated a redesign of the masthead/logo.
A new typography was created to reflect stylistic changes and finally the format size change.
A complete redesign for “Irrigation Australia” journal. The association had clean logo whose colour schema had been under utilised, in the redesign this was extended into the publication giving it a strong identity.
“mybusiness” magazine received a reworking and approach to cover design and layout. Special photo-shoots for several covers (when budget allowed) were organised where we could feature personalities to lead stories.
“Solar Progress” journal a new publication for the Australian Solar Energy Society. This received the benefit of some superb professional photography, that lend to interesting spreads. My role as Creative Director was a collaborative one with my art team to help explore some bold graphic elements.
“Connections” magazine is the publication for the Australian Canvas and Synthetic Products Association. This was a fundamental redesign from ground up, including a new masthead, layout style and design, and special treatment of images. the design seeks to create a more interesting, clean and contemporary style more in keeping with canvas product design.
The projected has involved some photography, as well as the development of a graphic design style for layout to a forth-coming publication, “Other” magazine. I've even put my hand to a spot of writing with this one.
“Jung Downunder“ is the program guide to the lecture series for the C.G. Jung Society of Sydney, published bi-annually. The publication also contains articles and reviews pertinent to the Jungian psychology. This was created new for the Society replacing the previous simple b&w newsletter.
