Serigraph Printing Technique

My inspiration for this project was an image taken by Richard Moss.
It was from his most recent series, Infra which captures the ongoing war between rebel factions and the Congolese national army in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Hereafter I manipulated the image and deconstructed it into two laters which I would use to create my Screens
The Screen is made of nylon stretched over a wooden frame. In order to transfer my design on the screen I had to expose it in a dark room which helped create my stencil. This is known as the pre-printing process. Since my design was layered, I had to create two screens in order to be able to use multiple colours.
A squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the substrate momentarily along a line of contact. This causes the ink to wet the substrate and be pulled out of the mesh apertures as the screen springs back after the blade has passed and this is the result.
Thanks for your time! Would love some feedback!
