Beer Branding Research

A Mexican beer by the company Anheuser-busch, this is a beer that uses many of the same flavours as tequila. Oculto means 'hidden' in Spanish and true to its name, the bottle changes with temperature revealing a hidden message and changing the colour of the eyes.
A work by Jonna Copperman, this brief was about the beer being one of a kind, or highly unique. This lead to the idea of albino animals being very rare, and this was taken as inspiration for the packaging which worked well with the 'pale ale' description.
Ippon Matsu is a beer brand that translates to 'One pine tree' The brand tries to raise awareness and pay homage to the aftermath of the Japan 2011 tsunami, the effects of which are still felt today. Designer Kota Kobayashi chose a simple pine tree to represent the brand, an icon of the single pine tree that was left of a forest renowned for it's beauty.
This beer by Brewdog has been refered to by some as the first protest beer. It is largly in protest to Putin's anti-gay laws. The packaging claims in a very serious manner that it is 'not for gays' and features bright pictures of Putin in make-up on the front. It is not just a humorous protest as Brewdog donate 50% of the profits to charities representing oppressed minorities around the world.
This 'Beat Beer', created by Kevin Harald Campean and is inspired by the 'pub hooligan'. The use of the 'smashed bottle as a weapon' trope in so much media inspired Campean to design a bottle that could show the roughness of a pub in a more elegant way.
The works in this set are not my own, they are simply a collection of reference and inspiration images by other talented designers to fuel the start of my own project.
