Saint Sebastian Statue

VIVA SAN SEBASTIANO! Patron of: Athletes, Soldiers, against plagues, Archers and Cerami, Sicily.
I was given the honor to cast and paint a new 24 inch statue of Saint Sebastian for the Saint Sebastian Society in Montclair, New Jersey. I was provided with the mold of the original statue by the society and was astonished with the its level of detail. The project took nearly three weeks to finish and was completed in time for the society's 90th Anniversary Feast. This statue now sits in the Saint Sebastian Society at 37 Glenridge Avenue in Montclair, New Jersey.

Saint Sebastian was born in Milan in the year 256. He was the captain of the Praetorian guard under the Emperor Diocletian who was unaware that St. Sebastian was a Christian. St. Sebastian was also a miracle worker curing the blind and mutes and converted many pagans to Christianity. Diocletian heard of St. Sebastians betrayal and ordered him led to a field to be bound to a tree and shot by archers leaving his body full of arrows. Left there to die, St. Sebastian was miraculously cured from the arrows and nursed back to health by a pious Christian woman. St. Sebastian confronted Diocletian and he ordered the Saint beat to death, dying a Martyr's death for Christ in the year 288.

I want to acknowledge my friends for their generous help, my college professor for her advice and the support of my parents.
