Macro Photography- New perspectives

Week 8
This week I wanted to demonstrate life from another angle, I achieved this by photographing many little situations through a different perspective.
Title - Humphry
Technique - DSLR Photography, and macro photography
Process - Camera 70D EOS, Canon, with lighting of a lamp towards the right hand side to create shadows and above lighting from the top. The camera was placed on a tripod to capture the still spider on the wall, used in manual focus. It was also edited in Photoshop as the lighting, white balance and contrast was adjusted.
Lens - a micro lens at 135mm
High ISO - 6500
Aperture - f/5.6
Reflection - This photo resembles the life of insect, although the spider was not that large, the camera captured her size as through the eyes of any small creature. I found this rather difficult to capture because through sudden movements she would move, therefore I would have to rearrange all my lighting and settings. Also the dark lighting made the steadiness of the camera a priority as it would blur, therefore I need to set a time so my bodies interaction would not interfere with the shot.
Title - The small Obstacles
Technique- Close up photography, mirco lens
Process - This little man was placed on top of a BBQ grill, with the micro lens I zoomed i about 1.29ft, this was achieved on manual focus. I placed focus on his body and feet where the grill was to make a clear composition of the surroundings, I then blurred out the background to achieve a dark environment, creating a dramatic scene. The image was also edited in Adobe Lightroom
Lens - a micro lens 100mm
High ISO - 6500
Aperture - f/5.6
Reasoning - I chose this scene because I wanted to create an action scene with the ornament,   I highlighted the white balance to create a contrast of the image, representing the good and bad. This angle also places the scene in perspective as if there is more to follow.
Reflection - I found that this was my best picture in the series of micro photography, I found I could have achieved more of a focus on the ground around him, as well as the image looks slightly noisy which could have been due to the high ISO.
Title - Pea in a Pod
Technique -
Manual
Aperture -F2.8
Shutter -1/40
ISO- 6400
100mm
Reasoning - I chose to do this image because I wanted to create a new perspective of the world, I edited this image in Adobe Photoshop where I could bring the focus through colour on the figurine, and the plant. I wanted to balance out the photo with to contrasting colours such as red and green.
Reflection - I found using the manual setting for this scene proved to much more difficult, the lighting in this scene was poor, therefore the focus looks lightly nosiy and unclear.

Title - Whiskers
Technique

Manual
Natural lighting, flash
Aperture -F5
Shutter -1/100
ISO- 5000
100mm

Reasoning - These two animals were used in the images because they're in between two worlds ours and the one below their paws. I focused on two main points the whiskers and the eye, highlighting two of their main sensors.
Reflection - Both being active animals it was hard to capture them while moving, as well as achieving a good source of light,  this is where I aimed the flash at a suitable angle to emphasize the form and texture of the details of the cat or dog, for example the fur.
Title - Little Wasp
Technique
Manual
Natural lighting
Aperture - F5
Shutter -1/500
ISO - 5000
100mm
Reasoning - I chose to take a photo of wasp at work in the park along the Z block at QUT, I found that capturing this was rather interesting because they are one of the most scored insects. They actually provide extraordinarily important ecological services, including pollination, predation and parasitism. Capturing something that has value to our micro world conveys a reason behind this project.
Reflection - The speed of this shot had to be brisk as wasps are poisonous, and fast. The lighting from perspective was tremendous as I had a reflection from the building on to the flowers.

Macro Photography- New perspectives

Based on a project done in week 8 with the influence of class work in our tutorials, this places the human eye in perspective with micro world.
