30th Anniversary Card

My parents celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary earlier this year –
this is the card I designed for them!
Process
Step 1
I usually start off with quite a rough sketch, either done on paper or straight into Photoshop. Working at 600dpi gives me more control over the level of detail in my textures. Another sketch, this time in colour, is then done to give an indication of what colours to use where.

Step 2
Textures are achieved by using an assortment of custom brushes I've bought or made myself. I start off with a flat colour shape, then add detailing using clipping masks. I refine the shapes as I go along but make sure everything has a hand drawn feel to it.

Step 3
Once everything is worked up and in place compositionally, I usually add adjustment layers and effects to make sure the piece is as bright and popping as it needs to be. Playing around with the hue/saturation and levels usually adds that unifying, finishing touch.

Thanks for viewing!
