Concrete Circuitry

“Concrete Circuitry.” Woodblock Print (22x30″). 2016.
I love cities. i do not like to live in them, but i love to look at them from afar. to study the unique geometry of modern day architecture. how we design such large, tall structures to hold and organize thousands of people in one area.

The image is based off of my own photograph of the city. i took the image and carved it into grid-like patterns to mimic the appearance of the buildings and high rises. the clustered abstraction of distant windows, floors, and walls of the buildings reminded me of the texture of the circuitry boards/chips found inside computers.
Detail. Woodblock print on BFK paper, 22x30".
Original woodcut block. Took about 6 hours or so.
