This project is yet another instance of me looking back at old work and seeing what I can do with it using my current skillset. In this case, I had to do quite a lot with only a very basic idea to work with.
This is the original image that provided the basis for this project. According to the file, I made it in 2008. And yes, as a matter of fact this was made in MS Paint. It was a quick and dirty build, never meant to be much more than a thumbnail sketch, and it probably wouldn't pass muster in anything more advanced than an early 90's web page.
The first of two final versions of the emblem that I was somewhat satisfied with. The flat colors are probably a bit too true to the original.
I'm much more fond of this version of the project. The swirling effect on the inner frame and the holographic ripples on the globe's blue "water" regions really liven the design up, in my opinion.
