Languages are a cultural mirror. They reflect, refract, renew, and echo
social prejudices and stereotypes by fixing them in symbolic representations.
French is one of many language that denotes nouns with male or female status.
However in a group situation that implicates both masculine and feminine
entities, the masculine form is always used to define the group.
In many ways, this is inextricably linked to gender inequality.

How can we think, or laugh, or get surprised about a form of sexism
so inconspicuous that it tricks us all, children and adults alike?
From a very early age, picture-books develop our perception of the
word and teach us how to link forms and contents through their “clichés”.
In this way, it seems to be the best support to reconsider our vocabulary
and to stage “misgendering” illustrations, revealing some damning
and funny proofs that in french many words rhyme with macho…
