Baby Food Packaging Redesign Concept

In a college package design course, one of the projects was to redesign a badly designed product. I got baby food, which was fairly lucky considering some of the ones I found in the local grocery store. I’ve gone through a few iterations as my skills in graphic design improved, but the gist remains the same.

The brand is “Yummy” and the new concept is based on children’s alphanumeric blocks. Each food option is represented with its title ingredient(s) made into a “smiley face” design. This can be executed by object placement, carving into fruit, or carving certain root vegetables. The coloration of each food title is also blended and color mapped to the wooden borders and added to text. The overall wood texturing and display of ingredients is invocative of the “natural” feel of this series of baby food.
