Champions of Cheese Awards
Once a year, for the Cuisine NZ Champions of Cheese Awards, the specialist cheesemakers select their very best cheeses and send them to Auckland for judging. Hundreds of cheeses of varying sizes, shapes, types and ages appear in early March as if by magic. Then it’s the turn of an expert judging panel under the watchful eye of Russell Smith, to honour the cheese by evaluating every one. They award the very best with medals and reserve top honours for those selected as true “champions of cheese”.
