Twirl
Digital Fabricated Lighting unit
Began as a 6 days’ workshop as an introduction to parametric modelling and digital fabrication using grasshopper & 2d laser cutter. The workshop application was a team work project which aim  design a lighting unit for a rectangular room that has 2 openings on two adjacent sides. The suggested design was to use a 30cm diameter sphere as the essential geometry while Having 2 parameters controlling the generated section cuts: The rotation of each section in the xy plane & their rotation in their own yz plane. With a 180 deg horizontal rotation that allows the direct light to distribute regularly on 2 sides of the room while a spiral shadows is distributed along the two other sides , The laser cut sections was assembled from a 0.25 cm MDF Wood material.
