GREEN CELLS
In the past palmhouse was the place of science, reserved only for scientists, but now this function is almost entirely forgotten, and replaced by function of public garden.
In this project I tried to connect this two equally important functions and create modern version of the palmhouse.
The main part of final project was my attempt to connect it’s form and function. As the result I created the project which is inspired by cross section of root of a plant. This idea influenced not only the process of creating shape of the building but also it’s configuration of spaces. That’s how concept of „Functional Centres” was created.
The space is divided on the smaller circles (cores of the root), each circle is assigned with the different function, function without which the palmhouse (like the plant without the cores) cannot exist. Ground tissue, the main part of every living plant is represented by all the plants planted in the building the building.
By this design two main functions could coexist in one building. Ground tissue - parts with plants is accessible for everyone, and inside there are circles, closed for general public, accessible only for scientists and students
