Application design for a social platform

THE CHALLENGE
Brand You is a project that has emerged out of my bachelor thesis. My paper examines the identity search of the generation Z in real life and how they represent themselves on social media. I wanted to find out how the social values of the youngsters changed and what impact this has on other generations. Furthermore, I examined how their communication changed through diverse social platforms and how they use them. My research showed very clearly that the young people use those social platforms to create and promote themselves as a brand.

THE IDEA
I decided to develop a mobile application that helps the young user to generate an authentic 'brand' of themselves where they don't have to pretend to be someone else. You are supposed to answer diverse questions on different topics. These questions help to find out what kind of person you are and where your priorities lay. At the end of the questionnaire, you have a profile tailored to your interests and skills. The app works as a platform on which the user has different functions like posting pictures, articles or other things they are interested in.

It works relatively similar to every other social media platform. The only difference is that the application targets young people who want to apply for an internship or a job. It can also be used for a university application. It offers a unique possibility to present yourself on a personal and professional level the way you truly are without smarten the reality up. This profile can be exported and sent to any employer or university. The goal of the app is to convey an authentic image of the person.
