Progression of my Night Sky Photography

Here is my progression with Nigth Sky photography as well as some of the lessons I have learned out in the (mostly) cold, dark nights. I have been experimenting on and off over the last three years and each time I come back from a shoot I refine my technique.
First Attempt and first lessons learned in Kodiak, Alaska.
Lessons Leanred:
1. Use a sturdy tripod so you can take exposures that can approach 30 seconds.
2. Manually set your focus to infinity and then turn off the auto-focus!
3. The night sky can lose it's majesty if it is not grounded in a great
landscape. It also helps give a sense of proportion. Use the terrain around
you to frame a great night skyscape!
