Women Key Note Speakers/Interop

Interop is coming to Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas Nevada on May 6th-10th 2013. It is the biggest show of the year for the Technology Industry and I am so excited to attend!

There are so many companies I want to check out & speakers I want to hear, so excited was I to get my Interop planner, so I could peruse all of the different exhibitors, and check out what workshops and presentations I may want to attend.

I wondered, whom if any women were going to be presenting…Women in Technology is a small group, in comparison to the men in the STEM industry, but it is a hot topic & more girls are investigating the possibility of a future in this arena. I myself, belong to many Women in Technology groups like Women in Technology International (WITI) the world’s leading trade association for tech-savvy women. Today, WITI is the premiere global organization empowering women in business and technology to achieve great heights in the industry.
With a global network of savvy smart, talented women and a market reach exceeding 2 million, WITI has powerful programs and partnerships that provide networking connections, resources, opportunities and a supportive environment of women committed to helping and supporting each other.

“WITI’s mission is to empower women worldwide to achieve unimagined possibilities and transformations through technology, leadership and economic prosperity.”

I also belong to Girls in Tech LV (a local chapter of www.girlsintech.com), Women 2.0 and countless others. I recently mentored girls who were participating inwww.blackgirlscode.com, an innovative nonprofit, introducing girls of color between 7 and 17 to coding. This was held at the INEVation Center which is part of Switch Communications and the SuperNap. This is a local Nevada company & will be on the Interop expo floor.

So, as I looked for my sisters in IT who would be speaking at Interop, I was pleasantly surprised to find women at the helm of some of the largest technology companies!
