Below is the original rendition I made, before I changed it to the above. Initially, from my interpretation of the official Force Awakens poster, I thought that the Starkiller base was a giant metal ball like the Death Star, and the blue haze around it was its shielding. It wasn't until I found out that the installation is actually an entire planet turned into a weapon.
