CIRCLE FOR THE DUMPLINGS


Circle for the dumplings is a tool that helps to make Pierogi (dumplings) -  traditional East European food. Pierogi's are being made by using dough and some sort of filling. To prepare it you need to roll the dough until it is very flat, cut a circle out of it (using glass or a jar) and then put the filling inside and close the edges. Traditionally Pierogis are being shaped by hand, sometimes by using fork or a special form for it.

Circle for the dumplings can be used by everybody, but from my observation amatours and children are the best recipents of the project. Normally, they wouldn't prepare it as it is not so easy to close pierogi very well. If you are not skillful with it, they might open when they are bioled, and the filling will come out. That's why the wooden material works here so good. The edge is not very sharp but sharp enough to cut the dough. You need to use a little pressure to do it. That pressure closes the dough very well, so that the dumplings don't open when they are boiled.


The project is made of polish cherry wood, that works very well for woodcarving. The zig-zag pattern is cut with a sharp knive by hand.


I find traditional cusine very interesting and inspiring, that's why I am very happy I came up with a project that helps to cultivate it - by all the generations.
