Is this a home for migratory birds in summer? Yes it is, no one believes unless you know this place and visited in summer.
If you ask for a glass of water and I bring back a cup of ice, I’m trying to teach you be patience. And also that sometimes you get ice with no water, and later you’ll get water with no ice, yeah but that’s life, isn't it ? If there is no surprise there is no life.
Deep in Himalayas and middle of winter, I was in search and search took me to this amazing place of ice in Rupsu Valley. Summer months, you can see many birds flying around and green patches on land with full of barley fields and of course backdrop with snow clad mountains with signature blue water. You also find nomads tent and herds of Pashmina goats - sheep grazing around. yes it's also a summer home of Changpa nomads.

Still not able to find which is this place ? Yes it's known as Korzok.

Korzok monastery used to be a capital of Rupsu valley in old days. It is an independent monastery under Korzok Rinpoche, known as Langna Rinpoche. Kunga Lodro Ningpo 3rd Korzok Rinpoche, was the founder of Korzok Monastery. Monastery is some 300 years old and setup at bank of Tso Moriri, which is known as wetland. Emerald blue water is trademark of this lake and Tso moriri has been pledged as a 'Sacred Gift for a Living Planet'.

This winter I will be there again to see new patterns of ice, find new stories of Changpa families, will you come with me ?
