For this project we had to research something that did not have anything with our major(advertising and graphic design). My first thought was industrial design and to use the shopbot in the fablab. My great aunt was from Thailand and the carvings and the artwork she had around her house inspired me to Japanese carvings and patterns. Japan is surrounded by woods so most of there art is made from wood, so i know i was going to do something with wood. i found three patterns that i based my design of of. These patterns are old and well know in the Japanese culture. I had to change the patterns so the cutter would cut the wood properly. I really challenged myself with this project, I wanted to stand out from everyone else. this project was difficult in so many ways but i did conquer it and very happy what the end results were.
