A photographic study into the movement of the neck. In particular the analysis of compression , extension and rotation. It is research that influences the development of a 3D model that integrates the base understanding of spine movement with the aesthetics of a fern.
This model showcases the basic principle of human spine and neck movement and also skill in digital craft. the movement is modeled on the motion of the human spine locking when bent backwards and releasing when bent forward. It was 3D printed with multiple materials, so the vertebrae are solid and the stem joining the pieces is soft. This allows the model to articulate and be able to be bent freely forward and lock when bending backwards.

This is an exploration in the color and material qualities of a 6 material 3D printer, in the creation of a creature.
