These photos were taken in one of the most emotional places in New York City. The 911 Memorial is located at the Financial District of the city, where thousands of people walk by daily. The constant movement of the workers and the stagnation of the people that somehow had their lives affected by the 9/11 tragedy create a big contrast. This contrast also relates to the differences between the old and characteristic buildings that have been there since the beginning of the city and the new and mirrored constructions that start to appear. The result is an ambiguous context to the district.
I decided to create this short photographic serie to transmit the heavy and, at the same time, unexceptional feeling that I had when I visited the area. All the shades of gray are intended to contribute to bring the spectators to the scene, making them feel surrounded by the emptiness of a place full of memory.

Série de fotos realizadas em um dos locais mais carregados de sentimento em Nova York. O memorial dedicado aos acontecimentos do dia 11 de setembro de 2001 localiza-se no centro financeiro da cidade, onde milhares de pessoas passam diariamente. O contraste entre o movimento constante dos trabalhadores e a estagnação das vidas de pessoa que se envolveram nessa tragédia conversa diretamentamente com o contraste entre os prédios característicos de uma das áreas mais antigas de Nova York e as novas e espelhadas construções que ali começam a se apresentar.
Com o intuito de transmitir a sensação "pesada" e, ao mesmo tempo, corriqueira que senti ao visitar o local, criei essa breve série fotográfica. O cinza e suas diversas tonalidades pretendem contribuir para que o espectador sinta-se rodeado por esse sentimento de vazio em um ambiente tão cheio memórias.
