WHAT IS THE ART OF DATA?
The Art of Data exhibit represented a unique visual perspective on the data that drives decisions and improvements in Kansas City, Missouri. The exhibit featured artistic adaptations using Kansas City’s data. This was the first time Kansas City has combined statistical data with artistic renderings to create a visual experience for residents.
The Art of Data show title piece was created using a 3d pen on wood panel (see detail below). The idea behind the piece was that although there are many disparate elements and factors that make up a data and data sources, they are neither one dimensional nor separate. They all coexist to create the entire picture. this concept is taken further by making the piece monochrome, so even though there is no difference in hue, their position relative to any light source will reveal the design.
