The brief from the customer was that we create 9 gilded box frames that
echoed the patination on the crab shells. As the colour
range in their appearance was quite wide, we use both 23.5ct and 12ct white gold.
The 23.5ct would be used for the lighter and red shells,
while the 12ct white gold, once distressed and toned would compliment
the darker ones. To increase this match we altered the gilding process
to add extra texture to the frame surface.
