A key part of the look was based on the journies that follow the ancient trans-Saharan slave trade routes. These are controlled by the ever-present people smugger himself; being a part of the landscape whilst hidden within it and remaining elusive.

Beyond the titles were a series of map explainers in a similar style. The conversation overlays and name supers were intentionally kept simple and secondary from the programme content.
