Atlantis
a textile collage
This project was a way for me to gauge my hand-finishing techniques in sewing. Two patterned textiles were layered to create a background, which recalls the imagery of the underwater city of Atlantis. Some of the city's inhabitants were appliqued in blue silk on the surface of the collage, or in between the layers to create a midground.
The piece is 14" tall and 52" long.
