Olivia wanted to show the reader many of the key elements within the story on the cover, to do this she illustrated tiny detailed illustrations which were then masked to the shape of a Conch Shell, from a far it appears to just be an image of a Conch Shell. The contrasting yellow on grey was used, to make the yellow really stand out. The colour yellow also relays to the reader that the story is about caution, cowardice and jealousy.
