This illustrative, hand-drawn map is inspired by the Harvard Dialect Survey. Although English is spoken across the United States, there are many different words used to describe the same thing and many different pronounciations of a word depending on the region. This map aims to illustrate phonetic spellings, slang, and different word choice.
