Figure drawing allows me to combine two of my favorite things: exploration of light and form, and adoration of the female figure. I mostly use pen and ink, pastel, or marker; I draw sometimes from life, sometimes from photo. I usually do these as practice, and to capture light effects or dynamic movement that interests me in a pose.
