MANIFESTO: UNDERMINING EXPECTATIONS
Date: May 2014
Client: University of Technology, Sydney / Self lead project
The manifesto and posters were created for a research based subject exploring the way we fit into the design world and our own practice. The final manifesto was written based on the findings of a research report, about the lack of women in illustration and visual communication. The manifesto also incorporates points about the need for accessibility and culpability in design especially surrounding the appropriation of culture and making an active effort to stop discrimination. The A2 posters were made to help me distill what I was interested in. The Black and White imagery in the posters use scientific analogies to help dissect my interests, while in the manifesto the cut and paste nature of zines is evoked due to the deeply political nature of the manifesto. This project has fed into many other personal projects, about gender, racial, ability and sexuality.
