Project Brief: Design a book that focuses on an influential typographer of your choosing. Areas of high consideration should include, typography, layout, and the combination of image and text.

I chose Dutch typographer, Wim Crouwel. Having lived in The Netherlands for a brief time, I am very sentimental towards this small European country. Not just emotionally but the historical influence that Holland has played in the world of graphic design, constantly impacts my work. Drawn to learn of famous Dutch designers I discovered Mr. Crouwel. Well ahead of his time, in the 60s and 70s, Wim was focusing on design and type for a new era of technology.

 

The book features a large portion of Wim Crouwel’s work but also a good amount of creative interpretation in terms of layout and composition.
