The aim of this roject was to research the latest influences in healthcare interiors and design a modern clinic, catering to all demographic groups within Dublin City Centre. The given building is an old boarded up building from which the original plans were to be worked from. These plans were to be divided into subsections of varying activity.

These activities were to include;
A large reception with general office
A restaurant/ coffee shop/ kitchen
A nurses treatment centre
Surgery suites
An operating theatre
A physiotherapy room
A councelling centre
A l ab
Staff quarters

The concept for this project is based on the human heart. I wanted my concept to come from a link with healthcare so I chose the heart because it is the most important organ in the body.Also, I found from sketching the heart that it has many organic forms which I could pull many interesting spacial ideas from.

I came up with a basic spatial layout which would allow me to address thehealth and hygeine, safety and security issues involved with the area of healthcare.I thought about what floors each activity should be
assigned to and what activities could be put together. I also accomodated for privacy in offices/clinics which must be seperate from waiting rooms, a secure staff entrance to the building,a reception allowing staff to
overlook waiting areas and access to other floors, communal showers/changing areas where necessary and a
hydrolics lift for physiotherapy patients to allow easy access to above floor.
