The initial loom which communities worked on were hand-made.The backstrap loom has the tension which is provided by the lower back at a certain angle and the weft is paseed through the interlocked warp.I experimented with a few different textured yarns and patterns.The expirence of working on the loom which we constructed with wooden and bamboo cuttings was quite interesting and challenging.

 

The ancient epics are so mesmerizing that it intrigued me to extract a poem and translate that on fabric.The famous poem of Princess Mirabai for Lord Ram called "Payogi Meine Ram ratan dhan paayo" portrays the love she feels for him.Goddess Mira bai,simple in her attire had such a pure heart that she sacrified all the wealth and worldly pleasures for devotion.Lost in the thoughts of Lord Ram , she used to sing for him using her ghungroo and her sweet melodiuos songs.

The colors of red and white symbolize Mirabai which merges into the shades of blue and green.She looses herself to the world as she colors herself into colors of Lord Ram.
