A few months ago, some graphic design students were asked to design some posters for an exhibition to celebrate the 30+ years of the Greek Graphic Designers Association. We had to choose a date (or more) from 1983-present and design a poster about something important that took place that year. I chose 1990 and designed 2 posters.
First Poster: January 31st 1990, First McDonald's in Communist Moscow. Yeah I know Stalin was dead in 1990, but he is far more iconic than Gorbachev.
Second poster: In April 24th 1990, Hubble Space Telescope launched into space.

Update: The first poster was awarded in the Greek Young Designers 2015 awards and was chosen to be the cover of the Gr Design magazine!
