C&C CLUTCH
This started with one design challenge in mind. To create a product that incorporated the idea of wear and tear as the main feature of what makes it beautiful and unique.
With this in mind, I was left with two possibilities. To create materials that would evolve over time or find materials that have these properties already and use that to my advantage.
This would give me the opportunity to design how the product would wear out. As the product becomes used, the materials would change in a way that is unique to the owner.
I decided to take the challenge and do both, create a material as well as using known materials.
For existing materials I used copper which naturally oxidizes, while using wood to create contrast. The material I created is a result of silicones and leather hide, with the intention of creating a synthetic shedding over time.
