ACR Bulletin Magazine, American College of Radiology

In late 2013, ACR was ready to revamp ACR Bulletin, its monthly magazine that keeps ACR’s 30,000 members up to date on current research, news and advocacy efforts. ACR Bulletin is an informative source, but was in need of a more exciting look that would serve as a stimulus for ideas and communication among members, and challenge members in their thinking about the practice. In addition, ACR was publishing the magazine digitally using a very popular off-the-shelf solution, like similar pdf flip-page solutions, it wasn’t gaining much traction or engagement. ACR wanted the redesign to be a springboard for a more innovative digital solution for the publication.

ACR approached Bates Creative as a partner to redesign ACR Bulletin and to create an interactive edition of the magazine with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite (DPS) to be published to tablets and smartphones. Infographics and bold imagery bring the content to life and translate well to the Adobe DPS edition. With Adobe DPS, ACR is now better enabled to interact with members through their tablets and smartphones and track what content is most popular through analytics. The full redesign has given ACR an opportunity to not only foster engagement with members but to also increase readership among members who weren’t previously reading ACR Bulletin.
