In 2010 NEAT Photos requested an eCommerce site.
Andy and Suzi have a thriving small business photographing youth sports teams in New England. They had their own Web site for marketing, but were tired of outsourcing the eCommerce to a photo supply company to order photo packages. They wanted an eCommerce site they could manage themselves. They had some unusual requests in that they wanted to charge shipping for some of their customers, but not others, and they needed a way to link groups of customers to the correct packages with the right type of shipping.
Previously, NEAT only offered one way to take a payment. All their customers would have to show up to the photo shoot, and remember to bring an order form, and also remember to bring a check. Well, you know that people forget these things!
The new eCommerce site would now
a) allow people to pre-order and pay online,
b) if they forget, NEAT Photos could now take their payment at the photo shoot, and
c) people could go online later and order or even order reprints and download digital photos!
The Solution
I created an admin login and database application so Andy and Suzi could manage group photo schedules and customize products and more per team. The application allowed them to schedule teams which would appear in a list, their customers would then select their team and then be directed to the correct shopping cart. This gave Andy and Suzi greater control over their deliverables. The new checkout process allowed for custom user information on certain products.
