Robot Monster For Vampira the Movie

The rock in this short had to be broken apart first and put back together in order to animate it being ripped apart by Roman. (based on the film Robot Monster (1953)). Stopmotion has to be carefully planned ahead so you can animate to elements that are not there. Itsusually not in the budget to reshoot. A few seconds takes all week and even longer. I animate in 1's for the most part. Which means i take one photo per frame of film. So at 24 frames per second(fps) i take 24 individual HD pictures for one second of film. In that frame I have to move the character ever so little, and sometimes moves cameras for moving shots and rack focuses ect.. Very time consuming-But well worth it and very satisfying in the end.
