New Rochelle Band Branding

This logo was made for a project where we took 2 random words from a dictionary and made a band logo out of it. My words were "New Rochelle" (a city in New York) and the word "interest." My original thought for this band was that it would be a local group of people trying to share knowledge about their hometown through song. My problem with that was, after looking at and researching the city over and over, I couldn't find anything remarkably interesting about it at all. I was frustrated by the lack of trivia surrounding the city so I decided on a new idea. My second idea was a puck rock band who viewed their hometown as a prison to escape from, they named it "New Rochelle Interest" as a mock of the city for its lack of anything interesting. My logo is a grainy, vulgar depiction of a ball and chain symbolizing how they view their hometown of New Rochelle. The band's name is scratched on with the word "hell" highlighted to further get their point across and depict their boring hometown as the prison they see it to be.
This was a poster made as a follow-up to another project where I created a band using 2 random words. The band's message is rebelling against their home city of New Rochelle NY. with a punk rock aesthetic. The poster depicts graffiti of a mock "I Heart NY" with the meaning changed to "I Hate New Rochelle." It takes on a grainy, rebellious feeling while portraying the mission statement as well as advertising their tour. The information for the show is shown on a weathered flyer to add to the general aesthetic.
