Amongst the Mist and Leaves
Introduction
The photography featured here is from a short landscape project with the intentions of exploring light, colour, and texture of a woodland facing the fading days of autumn and the approaching cold, icy grip of winter. Creating a visual journey for the viewer, the imagery ventures amongst the woods, while the incoming fog slowly seeps into the forest, culminating in the path becoming lost into the horizon.
Further development of the project found a study in exploring the colour of the trees and leaves, through the soft early light with the crumpled and twisted textures across the woodland. These images evoke a sense of Tolkien-like fantasy to the subject matter, which was emphasised within the editing process, by concentrating on exaggerating the greens and oranges that feature predominantly throughout the photography.
Visually immersing the viewer into the landscape provides an understanding of the changing seasons as the end of autumn soon beckoned, bringing a coldness to these ancient trees as fog engulfs the surroundings. Forming a narrative on the essence of time and the impactful force of Mother Nature.
